The H.pylori Antigens (Feces) Rapid Test Cassette is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of H.pylori antigens in
human feces samples, providing results within 10 minutes. The test uses antibodies specific for H.pylori antigens to
selectively detect H.pylori antigens in human feces samples.
H.pylori is a small spiral-shaped bacterium that lives in the surface of the stomach and duodenum. The bacterium is involved in the etiology of a
variety of gastrointestinal diseases, including intestinal and gastric ulcers, non-ulcer dyspepsia, and active and chronic gastritis. Both invasive and noninvasive methods are used to diagnose H.pylori infection in patients with symptoms of gastrointestinal disease.
Sample-dependent and expensive invasive diagnostic methods include biopsy of the stomach or duodenum, followed by urease testing (if suspected), culture and/or histological staining. A very common approach to diagnosing H.pylori infection is the serological identification of
specific antibodies in infected patients. The major limitation of serological testing is its inability to distinguish current from past
infections. Antibodies can persist in the patient's serum long after the organism has been eradicated.
Testing for HpSA (H.pylori antigens in stool) is becoming increasingly popular for diagnosing H.pylori infection and also for monitoring the effectiveness of
treatment for H.pylori infection. Studies have shown that more than 90% of patients with duodenal ulcers and 80% of patients with gastric ulcers are infected with H.pylori.
