The Ferritin Rapid Test Cassette is a rapid test for the qualitative detection of ferritin in human finger prick blood for iron deficiency anemia.
The Ferritin Rapid Test Cassette is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of ferritin in human blood from a finger prick at a
cut-off value of 30 ng/mL.
Iron deficiency anemia is common in children and women of all ages, but especially in women who are still menstruating. The main signs are pallor, fatigue, headache, increased heart rate or shortness of breath during exertion. They can occur gradually and
go unnoticed.
Iron deficiency occurs when the blood does not contain enough red blood cells and therefore has a low level of hemoglobin, the most important protein in
oxygen transport in the body. An important component of hemoglobin is iron. Iron depletion, which can occur during pregnancy, growth, in case of insufficient iron intake, insufficient absorption or blood loss
(menstruation, abnormal bleeding, stomach ulcers, etc.) has enormous consequences for health.
The ferritin rapid test cassette is a qualitative, lateral flow immunoassay for the detection of human ferritin in human whole blood. The membrane is
pre-coated with an anti-ferritin polyclonal antibody in the test line region. The gold particle is
pre-coated with an anti-ferritin monoclonal antibody and rabbit IgG. During testing, the sample reacts with the particle coated with an anti-ferritin monoclonal antibody. The mixture
migrates chromatographically upward on the membrane by capillary action and reacts with an anti-ferritin polyclonal antibody on the membrane and
generates a colored line. The line in the test line area (T) appears if the ferritin level is higher than the cut-off level of 30 ng/mL. If the ferritin concentration is lower than
30 ng/mL, the test line dose is not displayed. To check the performance, a colored line always appears in the control line area. This line indicates
that the correct volume of sample has been added and that the sample has acted on the membrane.
