The Heka pres ointment compress is a non-adherent coarse-meshed cotton compress, impregnated with paraffin. This ointment compress prevents the wound from drying out and leaves the new granulation tissue intact when removed. It also keeps the wound edges supple. It is also applied to prevent adhesion to the secondary dressing. A Heka pres ointment compress can be used for superficial wounds, such as abrasions, 2nd degree burns with intact blister or for nail extractions. The ointment compress can remain on the wound for several days.
