USE IT WITH
Healthypharm Diarrhea Inhibitor 2mg helps with acute or chronic diarrhea.
NOT TO BE USED WITH
- If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine
- You should never give this medicine to children under 2 years of age.
- The capsules are not suitable for children under 8 years of age (see 'Warnings and precautions').
- Do not use this medicine if you think that the cause of the diarrhea could be poisoning, for example with a heavy metal (such as mercury, lead or cadmium).
- You should not use this medicine if you have a 'megacolon'. That is a very dilated colon; a serious situation that may occur in patients with Hirschsprung's disease, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, identified by a very painful abdominal distension, fever and an accelerated heart rate.
- Do not use this medicine if you actually have a blockage of the intestines, causing some watery stools to 'leak'. This occurs with certain intestinal disorders.
- Do not use this medicine if you have persistent stomach pain, if you have a high fever and / or if your stool contains mucus and / or blood. These symptoms may be due to food poisoning or an infection or inflammation of the colon.
- Do not use this medicine if you have bacterial inflammation of the large and / or small intestine caused by invasive organisms, including Salmonella, Shigella and Campylobacter.
- Do not use this medicine if you have severe inflammation of the bowel (for example ulcerative colitis or pseudomembranous colitis associated with certain antibiotics).
- Do not use this medicine in all cases where normal bowel movements should not be suppressed. Administration should be discontinued immediately in the event of constipation or
abdominal swelling.
DOSAGE
This medicine is intended for adults and children over 8 years of age.
The recommended dosage is:
Adults with acute (sudden) diarrhoea
Start with 2 capsules (4 mg) at once. Then take 1 capsule (2 mg) after each subsequent loose stool, for as long as the diarrhoea lasts. Never take more than 8 capsules (16 mg) in one day.
Adults with chronic (long-term) diarrhoea
Start with 2 capsules (4 mg) per day. This dose should be adjusted until you have solid stools 1 to 2 times per day. This is usually achieved with 1 to 6 capsules (2 to 12 mg) per day. Never take more than 8 capsules (16 mg) in one day.
Use in children
Children over 8 years of age with acute diarrhoea
Start with 1 capsule (2 mg). Then give 1 capsule (2 mg) after each subsequent loose stool,
for as long as the diarrhoea lasts. The number of capsules a child may take in one day depends on the child's body weight, see the table below. Never give a child more than 8 capsules (16 mg) in one day.
Children over 8 years old with chronic diarrhea
Start with 1 capsule (2 mg) per day. This dose should be adjusted until the child has solid stools 1 to 2 times per day. This is usually achieved with 1 to 6 capsules (2 to 12 mg) per day. The number of capsules a child may take in one day depends on the child's body weight, see the table below. Never give a child more than 8 capsules (16 mg) in one day.
