Imodium 2 mg melts 10 pcs
USE IT WITH
Imodium is used for acute or chronic diarrhea in adults and children from the age of 8 years. Acute diarrhea starts suddenly and usually resolves within a week. Chronic diarrhea is long lasting. Imodium is used to treat the diarrhea itself. It does not treat the cause of the diarrhea. If the cause of the diarrhea is known, this cause should be treated.
NOT TO BE USED WITH
- if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine.
- in children under 8 years of age. The tablets are not suitable for children under 8 years of age (see under 'Warnings and precautions with Imodium Instant melting tablet'). Children under 2 years of age should also not be treated with other forms of Imodium.
- if you think that the cause of the diarrhea could be poisoning, for example with a heavy metal (such as mercury, lead or cadmium).
- if you have a 'megacolon'. That is a very dilated colon; a serious situation that can occur in patients with Hirschsprung's disease, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, characterized by a very painful abdominal distension, fever and an accelerated heartbeat.
- if you actually have a blockage of the bowels, causing some watery stools to 'leak'. This occurs with certain intestinal disorders.
- if you have persistent stomach pain, high fever and / or mucus and / or blood in your stool. These symptoms may be due to food poisoning or an infection or inflammation of the colon.
- if you have bacterial inflammation of the large and / or small intestine caused by invasive organisms, including Salmonella, Shigella and Campylobacter.
- if you have severe inflammation of the gut (e.g. ulcerative colitis or pseudomembranous colitis due to the use of certain antibiotics).
- in all cases where normal bowel movements should not be suppressed. The administration must be stopped immediately in case of constipation or abdominal swelling.
