What do you use pulse oximeters for?
The oximeter (or oximeter or pulse oximeter) measures the arterial (arterial) oxygen saturation in the blood. This is done by an optical measuring principle with illumination of the skin by monochromatic LEDs of different wavelengths. The sensor measures the amount of light and gives the meter a calculation of oxygen saturation (SpO2). The meter also determines the patient's pulse rate.
Why are you measuring oxygen levels?
You use the saturation meter to look at the oxygen saturation, when there is a decrease there can be too little oxygen in the blood and this can lead to damage to the organs if it is serious. There are pulse oximeters that are equipped with an alarm function for medical personnel.
Which oxygen content values are alarming?
If you have a saturation of 95% or higher, the saturation is normal and there is enough oxygen in your blood. If the value is 91, 92 or 93%, that is lower than normal, but no reason to worry. If the value falls below 90% or lower, you have a deficiency, desaturation.
What is the difference in pulse oximeters you sell?
We have different oximeters from cheap to expensive. The higher the price, the better the quality. Some meters also have the option of saving results in an app, for example. There are meters from Mindray and Nonin that can measure the oxygen content continuously.
